Service Description:

Purpose: The WPB City Commission District polygon feature class contains district boundaries and associated information data. It is based of the 2020 US census and the result of redistricting done every 10 years. Districts were approved by the city commission on 11/15/21.

Intended Use: Currently used as reference on web maps and applications.

Department: Mayors Office, Planning, All City Departments

Data Source: Land data set

How was the Data Manipulated: City of West Palm Beach Commission District boundaries are based on 2020 census population counts.

How the Data is Modified: Edits to layer are due to a new commissioner (attribute update) or to annexation (spatial adjustment) as-needed the layer will be edited by GIS team members.

Update Frequency: As-Needed and new information provided by Planning or GIS supervisors

Notes: Every ten years the districts can be re balanced to reflect population changes. Census block populations are used to determine the total population in each commission district with the goal of trying to obtain an equal population (within 10 %) representation in each district.
