Service Description:

Purpose: The neighborhood’s polygon features service contains the Neighborhood Associations within the city of west palm beach. Neighborhood Associations are self-administered, they are not mandated by the city. Each Neighborhood association has their own bylaws including whether to have a president, regularly scheduled meetings, and events.

Intended Use: Currently used in the WPB Neighborhood web map/application. Map will be utilized by all departments that require community outreach.

Department: Mayor's Office  Community Building

Data Source: Referenced data published from feature class on SDE Mayors Office dataset

How was the Data Manipulated: Originally, Neighborhood boundaries were defined by residents working with Jose Tagle over Mayor's Neighborhood meetings. The boundaries data was given to GIS and entered to the database by members of the GIS team. After boundary data was entered to GIS, digital and printed maps were past on to the Neighborhood Services Coordinator in the Mayors Office and the president's of the different associations for approval. Necessary corrections in geometry and attribute data were made based on their feedback.  An attribute expression was added to the pop up for viewing of signed maps and demographic cards.

How the Data is Modified: Necessary corrections in attribute data: Workflow will come out of the Mayor's Office with the assistance from the Housing/Civic Engagement, and Commissioners Office/Commission Aides. Changes to Neighborhood boundary limits (geometry of any of the neighborhood polygons) will be brought to the attention of Sybille Welter, and updated by the GIS team.

Update Frequency: Workflow will occur monthly to ensure is up to date.
