Service Description:

Purpose: This feature class represents the latest approved zoning in West Palm Beach.

Intended Use: The primary use is for display and analysis in city-wide GIS web applications. This layers reflects the City's zoning classifications and is published for public consumption in web mapping applications

Data Source: Geodatabase layer in Planning dataset

Update Frequency: Within 72 hours of the most recent zoning approval changes by City Commission

How the data is manipulated: Use the parcel layer as a guide and reshape the zoning layer in SDE using editing tools on ArcGIS Pro. If a non-continuous or multi part polygon is created the editor should merge the multi part polygon with the same zone class polygon.

Updating the Zoning Layer

Background:

Planning Department is using enCodePlus application to display Zoning and Future Land Use (FLU) information. The application is consuming a webmap on ArcGIS Online called WPB_Basemap and the description in the view details contains all the datasources used in the webmap.

Change Management Drivers:

Zoning Cases are when the planning department changes the zoning on a subject tract of land. And parcel geometry changes (from the Property Appraiser office.

Strategy for updating the Zoning layer:

Use the parcel layer as a guide and reshape the zoning layer in SDE using editing tools on ArcGIS Pro. If a non-continuous or multi part polygon is created the editor should merge the multi part polygon with the same zone class polygon.

This is done monthly by IT-GIS staff
