Service Description: Purpose: Displays geographic area serviced and operated by the boundaries within the city limits of West Palm Beach. The Planning department processes annexations and has ownership of this layer and attributes.
Intended Use: Used for location and analysis purpose as a reference that can be used within various maps and apps. This layer is used by several departments and public use to determine whether the functions are within the city municipal boundary.
Department: Development Services, IT - GIS, Planning and Zoning, Public Utilities
Data Source: Municipal Boundary is located within the Land dataset.
How was the Data Derived: Data was added to GIS from various sources in 2012 and since maintained by West Palm Beach Planning Division. Planning department processes annexations and has ownership of this layer and attributes.
It's recommended that an accurate field survey be completed along with departmental Service Level Agreements (SLA) created for maintenance responsibilities to keep the data current.
How was the Data Modified: Update to Planning layers - Municipal Boundary, Annexation History, Building Inspector Zones, & Code Enforcement Zones are done by Planning department and GIS will update the other layers.
Update Frequency: As Needed with new information provided by Planning department.
